Simpsons Tackle is the closest day ticket sales point to Errwood Reservoir. The shop is run by Chris Simpson (pictured above with barbel!) an experienced local angler who, although stocks mainly coarse fishing items, does carry a growing range of fly fishing tackle which includes many flies suitable for fishing Errwood. Give Chris a ring if you would like to hire some tackle for a day and try your hand at fly fishing.
Directions from Whaley Bridge to Errwood Reservoir
Approximately 7 miles, 12 minutes
Head South on the A5400/ Long Hill for 6 miles.
Turn Right at Goyt Lane (signposted Goyt Valley)
Follow the road into the valley until you come to two large reservoirs. Errwood Reservoir is the higher of the two reservoirs on the left.
Parking is available on the roads around the reservoir, but please park sensibly. EFFC members may park in the sailing club area and have a key for the gate and barrier which should be closed at all times unless the Sailing Club want to leave it open. Day ticket holders parking in this area risk being locked in.
The returns box is built into the wall by the valve tower and easily viewable from the barrier. Please post all returns as it helps us keep an accurate stocking policy.
